Dace Lucia Kidd

Dace Lucia Kidd (b.1987 in Riga, Latvia) is a classically trained Texas artist working primarily in the media of oil on canvas. Her installations and paper sculptures along with her large scale drawings and paintings are known all across Europe.

Dace (pronounced, “Dot-sa”) completed her degree work at Art Academy of Latvia in Riga and received advanced training for two years at Accademia di belle Arti in Palermo, on the island of Sicily. She recently was awarded with International Emerging artists Award which is based in Dubai.

The artist recounts the story of her mother taking her to the first real art shop to open after her country fought for independence from Russia in 1991.  Seeing that her child was gifted, she spent two weeks salary on a brush and some paint. Her mother’s gesture will never be forgotten. Dace still has that brush and remains committed to creating a pathway to communicate through her art.

It is a unique honor to feature the art of Dace Lucia Kidd on our 2012 Bilancia.  While enjoying tastings at the winery, Dace met one of the vineyard’s most famous ambassadors, Tater.  She was instantly smitten with his “full-bodied” charm.  This work is the second in a series of collectable labels which celebrates talent throughout the artistic community of Texas.  Each year a percentage of the proceeds from the sale of this wine, limited edition signed prints, and the original painting will go to a worthy cause determined by the artist.  Dace has selected the Tyler Museum of Art, known for 19th and 20th century art while gaining recognition for supporting the work of emerging contemporary artists.  Learn more about Dace by clicking on the link to her website:   Dace Lucia Kidd
